Automatics are best for Drag Racing (straight line/flat out) Manual's are more 'fun' and handle better in the twisties. again - all in what you prefer

how are autos better for drag?u can hold the gears longer with a manual so they are faster in a straight line as well.

@ShowTekShuffla I feel ya on that one!! I have an 05/M6 w/ LTH, K&N CAI, X-pipe w/ muffler delete, Stage 3 Monster Clutch and yes I have held my own (won some/lost some) with 2 local Viper owners. Its al in the driving and the launch.

@e1853b Yes way a gto with a few simple bolt ons (intake...headers..) will rape up on a viper. my stock gto outruns corvettes and hangs with cts-v's and all i have is a magnaflow catback and vararam. You have obviously never rode in a gto.

Just think about it. Doesn't matter what you're racing, time or an opponent it still comes down to what your doing. That being said when your racing with a manual transmission you have to change gears on your own. in the process of doing so how much time are you losing in between each shift? Half a second, who knows? Where as the automatic shifts on its own without any loss of time, mishifting etc.
