How rare can you get? This is the first part of the notorious Philles single (Let's Dance) The Screw - Parts 1 and 2. This is just 4:30 of the nearly 10:00 both parts take up. Notice the high soprano done by Dee Dee Kenniebrew. Released in 1963 as a single then withdrawn. This was taken from a 1970's bootleg of the record. Part 2 also available (if you can stand this one!) Enjoy!

  • This had to be the greatest revenge scheme in human history. The fact that he actually had the balls to call it "The Screw", as he was screwing his former business partner out of royalties... just wow. The Rolling Stones later did this same thing to Decca Records, but they were a lot less subtle about it...

  • For a song that was supposed to be bad on purpose, this is kinda catchy. The fact that it had an attorney saying "Dance the Screw" was so apropo. This song was certainly produced this way to "screw" Lester Sill our of royalties. Cocky Chambers, Village TV

  • screw this song !

  • Legendary!

  • @m1kewithaone Oh I agree, they would have had to edit it down to the requisite 2.5 minutes for AM airplay. At lease they'd have a lot of tape to pull from.

  • @MichaelHansenFUN funny how karma has a way of coming around and biting you in the ass huh?

  • @dpohunter they made the song way to long to be played on the radio for back then...

  • @MichaelHansenFUN some say this is not him, but his lawyer...

  • does phil spector have a low register, not at his press conferences, not at his I DREAM OF JEANNIE tv show

  • @TGTSTS it is kinda catchy, certainly adaptable to several dance steps in '63. What a hoot it would have been to have Phil's plan backfire, with this becoming a surprise pop smash!

  • This is pretty hilarious.

  • if this is Phil Spector talking, his voice has sure changed at the Murder Trial Press Conference's. THIS IS THE SAME COPY THAT IS ON MY "Celebrities at their worst" CD (vol 3-which I had a hand in making) same skip!!!
