@wkndsquire Nah he died a heroes death . And whatever you may think or say, at the end of the day , Picard and the TNG crew were worthy successors to the old crew and Kirk.

Walter said in his autobiography that he drew upon feelings of grief regarding his recently-deceased brother to film this. He said that although it came out well, he should not have pulled such a painful memory to enhance his performance and was glad it was cut.
