  • I agree with MrMuscleflexin - this ad needs work. One of the main misconceptions that the media repeats and late-night comedians joke about is that the Tea Party wants no government or taxes whatsoever. Perhaps that should be addressed stronger, that the Tea Party doesn't want anarchy - it just wants fiscal responsibility and limited government.

  • @dosad1 Also, I agree, the Earth does put out a lot of pollution. Natural Pollution that it made, and has been doing so for 4.5 billion years, and knows how to handle itself with it. In the last 200 years we've covered this planet with asphalt, dumped millions and millions of oil in its waters and on its land, dumped trash the size of texas that is still floating around the ocean, made products that will never ever break down, dug up and burnt stuff that the earth never intended us on burning. .

  • @dosad1 Its great that the trash and pollution "hurts your heart" but there are millions of people out there that are living with cancer, and other life-threatning deceases out there because of polluted ground water, polluted air, eating fish with mercury in it, I could go on. Not sure how regulating a company to not put pollutants in the ground is going to affect anyones freedom. I agree, the water and air is getting better and has been doing so thanks to the EPA.

  • @Shanockdotcom Congratulations, you have a basic understanding of history the interest rate WAS capped, LENDING was not. That still wasn't enough if you have no money to pay out. When the banks collapsed they were like, GIMMIE YOUR MONEYS, YOU OWE US. and the people were like. WE DON'T HAVE ANY MONEYS, YOU TOOK IT ALL WHEN YOU COLLAPSED. And the banks were like WE NEED YOUR MONEYS. and so on and so forth. The FED capped the interest rate, relatively low, however it still wasn't enough.

  • @NickOfNaples The Federal Reserve was created with the power to artificially regulate interest rates. You can only say that credit wasn't regulated if you deny that the Fed existed. And, in fact, such regulation was what created the bubble. Again, like housing policy leading to '08.

Sorry friend, but it makes no sense to call my ideology broken when you have yet to make a valid point, when mine hasn't been implemented, and when your own (Keynesian, I presume) has created so much trouble.

  • @Shanockdotcom Easy credit, gotten from limited regulation from a conservative political stance. It wasn't regulated which led to a massive economic failure. It took time for people to regain confidence in the economy, but the fact remains that the recession ended under FDR. Take your broken ideology somewhere else.

  • @NickOfNaples Don't you realize that your evidence is proving my points for me? Where do you think the "rampant consumerism" came from, if not easy credit? The bank failures are a natural result of a collapsing bubble.

Now, would you have told any American who was on war rationing that the depression was over and that she was prosperous? She would have glanced at her hovel, and either laughed or spat in your face. Argue all you want, the fact is prosperity did not return until after WWII.

  • @Shanockdotcom Govt credit driven expansion wasn't the cause of the depression. Ideally that's who we would like to blame, but the rampant consumerism and subsequent bank failures were what really did us in. Peoples money just, disappeared. The fear caused by that on top of the recent stock market crash scared people to stop spending, which stopped stimulating the economy, causing more fear. Our recession was over in FDRs second term. Well before he was dead. In that regard you are simply wrong

  • @NickOfNaples Here's another way of looking at it: If the government doesn't spend as much money, it doesn't need to take as much from the people. The depression was caused by govt credit-driven expansion of the monetary supply, which caused a boom and bust - much like the '08 housing bubble. Both FDR and Hoover unsuccessfully tried to spend the U.S. out of depression. It only ended after WWII - FDR was dead, spending and taxes were reduced, the economy recovered. Your point is hereby de-proven.

  • @Shanockdotcom When you're not taking in any money, its difficult to spend it. I'm sorry you believe for a second that reduced spending and tax cuts creates prosperity.Look at hoover, that whole great depression thing? yeah. NOW lets look at FDR, increased taxes AND spending. My point is proven.

  • @NickOfNaples Tax cuts don't create debt. Spending more than your income creates debt. Cut spending, and reduced taxes promote prosperity. Bush was wrong because he didn't do both, Obama is wrong because he won't do either. For the oil rig, your question was answered before you asked it. The govt loan manipulation was mostly legislated under Clinton. If repubs have ever been the "party of no," unfortunately they haven't lived up to it. This country would be much better off with more "no"s to BS.
