(from Conference 2011) Orchestras, and all nonprofits, are under increased pressure to make the case for their nonprofit, tax-exempt, status. We must both do strong work for our communities, and communicate about it more effectively, in order to "make the case" to civic leaders and others who make a difference around policy decisions.
