@jamaicanhobos14 The effect is pretty straightforward, you mask a white shape over every frame of your saber, then duplicate the layer a few times with the bottom ones being recolored to whatever color you choose, then have the colored layers use a blur like Gaussian blur (which most fx programs will have).
I now use Ryan Wieber's style in after effects, but the technique can cross over to other applications like apple's motion. You can see Ryan's tutorial on his site ryan-w.com.
@swetrich Yes, between the time saber A and saber B goes from A on top to B on top the first layer of A actually ends and a new layer begins at the same moment on the timeline with the new layer underneath B, with the two layers of course being the same effect.
@DragonwareStudios Thanks! I've come a long way since this video and use more professional programs for effects, but yeah, everyone has different preferences for their sabers, I like the way these looked :P
@TheFIlmGuyOne I have a flash video file that basically consists of 3 frames of a growing flash that I drop right where the sabers meet and usually use some blend mode like add, whatever looks best.
I got the flash file from Ryan Wieber's tutorials on his site ryan-w.com.
nice!

Hey one question how did you add in those flashes when the sabers hit? Please respond. Thanks, and nice job

Nice effects :) If it were me I'd make the glows a leeetle bit more diffuse, but they look pretty good anyhow.
