@blueiguy1 I'm still researching this issue further, but from what I can tell there are no DNA markers that link black africans in that region in pre-columbian times. Also, there are pure natives in that region and they are not black, so just being at the equator doesn't necessarily mean you will be black. I'm still not fully convinced on the black theory. Maybe a small number of blacks made it across, but never mixed with the natives and died out since DNA evidence isn't there.

@luigee78 Yeah I Agree while there could Have been west African travel (basic sea faring) The facial features have similarities but not exactly the same. Whats more interesting is the smaller artifacts that have "African" similarities. As for skin color They were right above the equator so who knows. There have been several Natives Americans to right about this subject not just Ivan van Sertima.

The Olmecs must have been damn smart.
History is always so fascinating. :P

IT'S FUNNY TO ME THOSE HEADS DON'T REALLY RESEMBLE ANY OF THE INHABITANTS OF THIS LAND AT THE PRESENT TIME THE OLMECS DEF WERE ANOTHER BREED .........

There are ameriandians that also have wide noses and big lips (who aren't black). Those features are not uniquely "black". Also, the carvings are NOT to actual human proportions, so you can't truly compare them to any real human face. There are some videos on youtube that discuss the proportions issue.
I'm not sure if the Olmecs were black or not. I'm still researching the issue myself. But you can't go on "features" that could just be an "artistic interpretation"

they should of given all the workers leather working gloves for pulling the ropes. Also the problem with resurrecting ancient technics is that the brits working here dont know almost anything of the way life goes (and went) around there. Olmecs lived there hundreds of years and had many skills, tricks, knowledge and shortcuts to do things, which are mostly all unknown even to present day inhabitants. Anyway remarkable praiseworthy intent on trying to unravel old mysteries. Keep it on folks!!!

Bob doesn't really like to get his hands dirty. But he sure likes to wear his shorts and shirts tight, crikey!

"the Olmec had no writing system". Not true, BBC - they did have writing called 'isthmian script' , but the only traces of it left are short pithy writings carved on stone, so no one can decipher it.
Maybe if "Bob" helped rather than just watching then it would get done a bit quicker!

The problem with this era is that we assume that we have better technology. I think we regressed more then progressed. And I hope he is paying those guys handsomely
