William Shakespeare is called upon by Sam the Eagle in episode 323 of The Muppet Show to provide commentary for the show that the Muppets are putting on, Robin Hood. It doesn't matter that the famous playright of the same name didn't write the famous fable, this Shakespeare uses the name only as his noms de plum, and does not claim to be the man who Sam believes wrote The Sound of Music. Despite this, upon request, he recruits the Swedish Chef to recite a porton of Hamlet, after Sam has been informed that the man who wrote the words is dead.
The Muppet Show. Season 3, episode 23.
