  • Did james connolly, an atheist, REALLY say, "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing" or is all this a myth to turn JC into thenew JC (Jesus Christ)> Good God, I don't believe that two JCs dies for we irish.

oh, and how many of us really know, or care, that the second JC was scottish, not irish.

don't give me this crap of "Oh, his m ammy was irish". JAMES CONNONNLY WAS NOT IRISH. THE GREAT MAN WAS SCOTTISH. Why d onn't we call Kitchener irish? He was born in Kerry.

  • @squirell1952 Connolly considered himself Irish. On religion, he said, "Though I have usually posed as a Catholic, I have not done my duty for 15 years, and have not the slightest tincture of faith left."

  • Which explains why there was a James Connolly Workers' Republican club on the Shankill Road in the 1930s.

  • most of our g reatest heroes werer PROTESTANTS.

Most of our informers were CATHOLICS.

And quite a lot of people confuse the word england with the word britain.

there IS a geographical difference, you know.

the london-controlled empire that ran 75 per cent of ireland for so long was an ENGLISH empire, not a BRITISH empire.

read up on celtic nationalism. ireland, north and south, fits in neatly in it.

  • @donnachadelong - dear donka, scotland is not an island.

    britain is an island.

britain consists of ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, WALES, CORNWALL.

  • PEOPLE JUMP ON BANDWAGONS WHEN THERE IS A REVOLUTION GOING ON.

WE WILL THEN HAVE A REPEAT OF BERTIEISM, HARNEY-ISM, YOU NAME IT.

THE WORKING CLASSES, AS ALWAYS, WILL GET LEFT BEHIND ANY NEW REVOLUTION.

AS LONG AS THEY HAVE THEIR PINT OF GUINNESS AND DRUGS AND FAGS, THEY DON'T GIVE A SHITE ABOUT IRELAND, NORTH OR SOUTH.

IT IS AS UNNATURAL FOR THEM TO CAST A VOTE AS IT IS FOR ME OR YOU TO not CAST A VOTE. THINK ABOUT IT. ASK THEM. THEY'RE A BIT THICK, MIND YOU. UNEDUCATED. WHY NOT WALK AWAY

  • First they refused to support the London Docks strike of 1912 - unlike Rudolf Rocker and the Jewish tailors. Then, in 1913, when virtually the entire Dublin workforce was locked out, the TUC would do nothing and the bosses won. The Irish Citizen Army was the outcome and they gradually realised that they could find more allies in the nationalist movement than they could across the water.

  • @rayspecial Connolly's move towards national liberation came after 1913 and the Dublin lock-out. At the time, Larkin worked very hard in Scotland and Ireland, north and south, to build solidarity between workers on both islands. it worked temporarily in Belfast in 1907 and fed into the Great Unrest period of British history. However, the trade union hierarchy decided to destroy it.

  • stop commenting to the loyalist.

  • @monogirl3
