Very old commercial telling how great it is to have a vw beetle. This one is made in the days that having a car was something new. The commercial shows beetles with oval rear windows. Ovals were produced until 1957, so it's a very old film.

It is fun to discover that the early commercials focus on adults of 30 years or older who buy their first car. Also the length of the clip makes it very outdated, but so much fun to watch!

I find the man in this commercial quit annoying, but I guess it was effective in those days!

The actor's delivery is a little broad and vaudevillian, but we had the same type of comics with the same exaggerated delivery in the US back in the 40's and 50's. It's not unpleasant, but the emphasis today is on being natural.

What fun!! My grandad had a VW dealership in Washington, D.C. in the '50s...they sold out of them as fast as they could order them. There was an old gray one, a 1957, I think, that they kept as a parts-running car...
