CONCRETE ANGEL - Lyric http://www.martina-mcbride.com

She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace

The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late

Repeat Chorus

A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot

Repeat Chorus

(they will be able to put obstacles us, but they will never be able to avoid that we show the talent of our muse.)
Martina Forever!

  • @dlrsa2 postprandial depression.

  • I love this song bcuz it is very beautiful and it sends a powerful message about child abuse Martina McBride was very brave to sing this song and even write it but she did it for a cause

  • WOW ANGELA CARTER IS MARTINA MCBRIDES NIECE POOR MARTINA IT MUST BE SAD I CRIED BADLY WHEN I READ IT IN A COMMENT RIP ANGELA CARTER

  • i give her credit for not breaking down while singing this song AND singing this with so much emotions and powerful voice.

  • why am i crying everytime i hear this song?

  • beautiful

  • if you watch and listen to her especially in the last verse you can hear and see the hurt and anger in ver eyes and voice over what happened to her niece. She is such a brave woman and I applaud her for having the courage to sing this song again and again in memory of her niece to stop it from happening to other innocent children.

  • beautiful. but what for nasty people are the 18 dislikes?

  • Over the top! This live performance is absolutely one of the finest Martina has ever gave!
