For those of you who don't know, GuiltySpark is an attempt to make a simple multiplayer bot for Halo Custom Edition by taking control of the game.

This video shows the bot traveling around Damnation without any assistance. Later on in the the video you'll see me aiming and shooting to show the bot can keep walking no matter the aiming direction. This will allow for the eventual addition of an aimbot for the AI to use.

Path information is constructed by the user and saved to a file. The program performs pathfinding with this information and passes the resulting path to a path following algorithm which controls the game for you.

Recently I added another node link type, the look-ahead link (red). As the bot traverses these links, it will be forced to aim at the next node while walking forward. This is helpful for those tricky areas like ladders and narrow walkways, as well as special cases like in-air movement and flight paths for air vehicles. Another change I made was forcing look-ahead when jumping, since strafing can cause a jump to fail.

  • holy,, nice job! im so happy sombody actully thought about doing this! when do you think it will be done?

  • @mcape6

this summer some time for sure

  • @Conscars are they the kind of bots where you add them in mid game (counter strike bots) and can they use vehicles.

  • @mcape6 Something people often confuse my program with is an actual bot like you see in counterstrike. You can't spawn a bunch of these in a map and play against them. All this does is play the game for you, and so the bot is active whenever you want it to be. The AI is only as good as the script powering it. You can write your own AI scripts, but vehicle support is pretty poor. Sure, it can drive vehicles given the right script, but having an all-purpose bot that drives is something else.

  • @Conscars SWEET

  • HBO was here :) I'm excited for this

  • so when can we get an idea when il be released?

  • @Patrickssj6

I'm already planning on adding "look ahead" toggling as functions for the AI to use. Users can specify with their text file if they want it to have that behavior or not.

  • @Conscars You can still implement both. Walking and always looking forward and in case it has to change the aiming it can still go the right way.

  • @Patrickssj6 The walking and aiming need to be independent for this to be a multiplayer bot. I already have a check box that forces it to look ahead, but that won't do the aimbot any good. It needs to be able to walk about no matter where its aiming.
