john has a hell of a guard he is no joke i really believe he would ve had a better chance against his bigger oponent if he played him from top john is the one that pulled guard i believe top game against bigger oponent is better you can be the best in guard but against a big guy chances are you will wear yourself out dealing w the weight etc ,big guy beeing under has to deal with his own weight smaller guy can move faster thats only my opinion

@TKMSeznam12 , That is the goal, yes. Technique can make up for a difference in size for sure. But if you get two opponents of the same caliber, and one is way bigger, for sure weight is gonna play a factor.

wow this is at westwood high in mesa, i graduated from there last year, i didnt know they hosted this big of events.

I'm sure John felt his power, I don't know who you are telling to do their homework. I know that both of these guys are black belts under very highly respected instructors (Pedro Sauer, Roberto Traven) so technique being involved from both parties is not even a question, But there is a size difference. Whether or not the winner would've been different if there was no size difference, is not really anyone's place to try to call.

you should watch the match more carefully if you think bottom was stalling. several spider sweep attempts, cross chokes, oma plata sweep attempt. it was a good match.
