ABRSM Grade 1 Piano: Andante (B2)

I'm going for Grade 1 piano in July 2008 (2 months from now). This is one of the three pieces I've selected for the exam.

Well done on your grade 1! Just wondered how long did it take you to get to that point, and how much do you practice?

Cheers! I had a few introductory lessons at the end of 2007 but I bought my piano in Feb 2008 so I've been going properly since then. I practice usually every day. 30mins - 1hr on average. Some days it's longer.

Just wondered how you got on in your exam. Im an 'older' grade 1 too! Had mine a few weeks ago. Played A2, B2 and C2

Got a merit (I scored 127 out of 150 points). Missed out on a distinction by 3 points! I'm still more than happy, though. How did you get on?

I remember playing this piece for my grade 1 exam. Got a distinction for it. I just took my Grade 3, so I am nervous about my results for that.

i played this for my grade one but i got the tempo wrong and got a merit! lol

the examinor kept grunting at me!

IN my grade 1 exam I played this piece... I think i got 30, but you played it really well. I endd up with an overall 134 distinction cus i mesed up on the sight reading and scales. Well done for your achivment.

hey yea i think its possible just read through carefully ,, im skipping grade one and doing random bits and get slowly better and better and in a few years doin grade2 so believe in yourself !

um i guess u could teach urself get obv the grade 1 book but i recomend some other books like music frm movies or things u like so u get into the mood of it then learn like 10 songs after u should be able to play the pinao grade 1 but u need 2 be signed up 4 a opointment so u can actualy get a certificate saying uve done grade 1

Hi Guys,

Is it possible to teach yourself Grade One level? I am 25 years old and can play the piano but have not done anything official such as the gradings. Any advice? Also, any text books you recommend that could get me started?
