@lanceishiphop what you should say is, without Clyde Stubblefield. The JB's drummer played the funky beats on the Funky Drummer plus many of James' other early 70's creations that are so often sampled. Clyde hardly made a penny from his work because JB creamed off all the royalties and we need to pay due respect to Mr Stubblefield to make sure he gets the credit he deserves - the original funky drummer, still alive and playing in his home town of Madison.

@lanceishiphop just to be absolutely correct, we need to shout out to James' drummer Clyde Stubblefield who actually conceived and played the funky drummer beat. Thanks to James' selfishness, Stubblefield has never received a penny in royalties for this. No wonder he refuses to play it.
