Why not bring it ashore then dismantle it or just dock it and scrap it, instead they pollute the ocean with more metal, oil and debris.

your retarded my good sir they are in fact helping the environment unless they left a full tank of fuel in it which never happens... its actually good it creates an artificial reef wich protects and increase all life around it so please think before you speak next time

You should follow your own advice about thinking. Tsunamis taking fully fueled boats to sea never happens, but it did this time. Nobody cared to go aboard to check the fuel level because they were going to sink it no matter what. What never happens is a ship becoming an artificial reef, when the water is too deep - like it is where they sank this one. You're not retarded - you're just ignorant.

They could have towed it to port, and sold it at auction. The US gov. could have EARNED a little cash for once, and a boat that survived a sunami could have sailed the ocean once more.

The hard part about shooting, is that they have to hit the Hull, and cause a breach. Otherwise they would be shooting at it all day, and the boat would never sink, Hence the reason so many bullets hit the water, because that is were they are pretty much aiming.

It's a good thing the target was stationary and the seas were calm. Otherwise they'd still be shooting at it today.

I have to say why is it burning if there is no fuel/hazardous material on it? What about the life or reef it destroys when it hits the bottom of the ocean? Artificial sounds more retarded then just leaving it realistic instead! Maybe you should learn to think more then what you where told to believe along with your supporters!

You're right Charles. It is a good environmental initiative once it's done right. Unfortunately, the floating debris and the general condition of the vessel before it was sunk suggests that the sinking may have been more negative for the environment than positive.
