It most certainly does not. Earth Hour is purely a symbolic event, it doesn't directly help the environment one bit, and indirectly it isn't doing much either, as it does not send the correct message about climate change. It instead allows people to turn off their lights for one hour, rather than encouraging people to gradually use less energy over time.

Savings that are only apparent in their energy bills, there isn't even a dent in the amount of pollution that is created for that hour.

Let me ask you, what causes the pollution? Powerplants, of course. Yes there are cows and all that but what can we do about them? Anyways, would you think that powerplants would shut off for a measly hour to participate in a symbolic event? You don't know what you're talking about, believe me, Earth Hour doesn't affect pollution output at all. In fact, it may actually increase energy usage for some. Do your research.
