I remember my younger brothers and sisters watching this...it brings back a flood of good memories, a time where I lived at least; where you could leave your front door open at night to catch the cool summer breeze, and friends. Thank you

@IanGorton I remember the Newcastle one. Mum took us kids to see Romper Room live outdoors at some shopping centre......which may have been K-Mart at Waratah maybe...and it was chockers and raining. Needless to say we didn't hang around too long.
Frozen Doberman as in the band??? You are bringing me so many memories in such a short space :)

frovil: No, I have no connection with the FD band. Rather, I was in a different band. However, I thought the band name was great at the time. "Dem Men" was another great name for a band from the 1980s.

was this taped off a u-matic?

Either U-matic or 2" Quad videotape at the TV studio. Certainly not an off-air home domestic VCR recording.
There is virtually nothing left of Romper Room on video. The National Film & Sound Archives Canberra probably have limited material left over from the 1960s or 70s. Why would anyone hold on to expensive videotape showing a bunch of kids running around a room?
