Dick Clark just had a 40th anniversary for ringing in the new year since 1972 what a long streak and he still looks good for his age despite his stroke he had .

Ben Grauer was typecast!
He might have ended up being in Times Square for so many years on New Year's Eve because he reported from there for NBC Radio on August 14th, 1945, covering celebrations after Japan surrendered, bringing World War 2 to an official end.

@70sman4ever I loved the 70s though I was a bit too young, always thought that should have been my era. I remember all the peep shows, the porn theaters, the bums, the seedy characters, getting mugged for my quarters in Playland. The NYE ball-drop these days is so disgustingly amateurish....people used to have a great raucous time pissing on each other, making out, and fights breaking out....nowadays, thanks in large part to terrorism and Disney, you can't even so much as spit in Times Square.

Times Square was a HELLUVA lot better than today's shallow, entrified, snobbish, new age crap! Long live the 70s!! For me, i always ring in 1975 every New Year's Eve! Dig it?!
Tell me about it.
I watch these vintage videos and realize a HUGE difference of how things were done the decade I was born in and prior to. Kinda makes me wish I was born in the 50's. Damn 1990s and everything that happened that decade through now. Television is the most obnoxious and snooty thing in this day and age.
