Near as I can tell Carl Maria Von Weber wrote this partsong for 4 male voices in 1822.
Then in April 1848, while awaiting the arrival of Princess Carolyne Sayn-Wittgenstein in the Castle of Prince Felix Lichnowsky at Krzyzanowitz, Franz Liszt arraigned this variation for piano.

Here it is on this hand played roll dating from about 1908. This is a lovely little song here played on a 1904 Aeolian Push Up Pianola.
