Into the Book: Behind the Lesson is an unscripted professional development series that features exemplary teachers effectively teaching their students to be strategic readers. The Making Connections episode features 1st - grade teacher, Gale Chartier, working with her students. Watch Gale's students make text to text, text to self and text to world connections that help them build understanding of the texts they are reading. After the lesson, Dr. Michael P. Ford, professor of reading education at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, interviews Gale about her reading comprehension lesson and her experience teaching comprehension strategies to primary students.
