A greenback hundo doesn't get you as much these days as it used to — it's not even enough to bride my alderman any more — but at least it still affords you tons of tone-shaping options for your electric bass guitar. The Hartke VXL Bass Attack retails for a mere Benji, yet its sound-sculpting power has more influence on your bass than do all the adages in Poor Richard's Almanac on a wayward Son of Liberty.

Did we mention this pedal is manufactured in China? Might explain the slight confusion arising from a unit that shipped with a less-than-accurate user manual. No matter, the Hartke Bass Attack still dutifully performs its core functions — which puts it a notch above the Continental Congress AM I RIGHT?

  • ARRRRRRRRRROUND THE WORLD

  • Lol I heard about the loop your telling me it doesn't work?

  • I have this pedal and I love it more than any other preamp i've ever demo'd. Affordable, great tube overdrive, great EQ shaping capabilites, and great output boost. I give it a 9 out of 10.

  • @beaviscommerford The song is called Schism.

  • @kuchilage YES! at that is the most unique selling point for this tool. Only IT and your bass (if a PA is around).. and you´re done.

  • This tool is unbeatable. As it can be run by phantom power, all you need for a gig is your bass, 2 cables and this tool. no battery, no electro-plug, etc. needed. Of course, you can run it by battery/electro, and you can paralelly run your amp with this sound or you make a BI-amping by having the amp-sound on stage.. and adding shape to it through the DI/PA-conncetivity...

  • Does it support phantom power ?

  • @Kilroyan what tool song is this riff from?

  • Is this similar to Xotic RC Bass booster? I'm choosing between the two. I just need an effect that will enhance and sustain my tone.

  • so being a "DI", this thing is placed after the amp before going to mixer (live setting)? Thanks!
