http://envirosponsible.com/Water_Filters.html I've finally found the ideal water filter for my needs-the Sawyer SP122. It weighs a paltry 1.8 oz and filters up to 0.1 micron. There is no cartridge to replace-ever!

1 MILLION GALLON GUARANTEE!
Removal Rate: 0.10 Micron Absolute!

Includes: * 1 - Inline Water Filter * 1 - Faucet Adapter * 1 - Hydration Pack Assembly Kit * Cleaning and Maintenance Instructions

Specs: * Capacity: N/A * Weight: 1.8 ounces * Flow Rate: up to 40 PSI * Removes: Bacteria and Protozoa * Life Expectancy: 1 Million Gallons

This convenient filter can be used: * as a pre-filter for an existing pump system * as an inline filter on a hydration pack * with the provided faucet adapter * with a gravity bag

Biological Filtration: removes 7 log (99.99999%) of all bacteria like salmonella, cholera, and E. coli. And 6 log (99.9999%) of all Protozoa such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium. You will find these removal rates to equal or exceed competitive options. EPA guidelines allow ten times more Protozoa left in the water than we allow.

This filter accessory allows you to connect your inline filter to most water taps. The adapter head is made of flexible PVC which allows connecting to different size faucet mounts. Great for traveling, camping, or for emergency situations when you're not sure if the water is safe to drink.

This faucet adapter can also be used to backwash and extend the life of your filter.

  • I think urban & suburban survival requires a more encompassing filter. If you live in a clean area and have seen the water reports this filter could be awesome. Otherwise, it probably won't cut it. The local environment contains all the regional contaminants. These come from businesses, spills, roadways, etc. The water from that roof could have some PCB & VOC issues. In fact, the roof might be a source of some very nasty contaminants depending on its construction (and viruses from bird poop)

  • @tinesthai What kind of filter will cover all of that? Distillation? Reverse osmosis? Tap water has some nasty chemicals too like fluoride and sometimes heavy metals. This is the best filter I could find that's portable.

  • ave u ever boiled water in your klean canteen and do u have a way of ataching a handle

  • @The67676767676767676 Yeah I've boiled water in my kleen kanteens a number of times. Placing tin foil over the lid creates a super efficient boiling vessel. The wide mouth versions are especially good since you can cook in them and clean them easily. I haven't thought of making a handle, though it's a good idea. Maybe a piece of wire for hanging over a fire would be good. I use my leather gloves to handle the kanteens.

  • Looks like a good investment for your BOB and urban survival.

  • @CdnLifeguard71 This filter was the final piece of my BOB. Well, I still want a multitool, but my BOB was incomplete without it.

  • im going to stand by what i said.the katadyne is $335 and is a pump..the pump will fail !!! WILL !!! that = DEATH ! DONT bet your life on a pump. the sawer has no moveing parts+ it filters 1.0000000 gal. of water What i will bet is that the dude that told you katadyne is the best was wearing a northface jacket and some half dome mittens.. like all the dead bastards on mt.everest !!!! BE A SMART GEAR HEAD.

  • @blkwulff katadyne is 2 times the price for 1/2 the filter my sawyer filters all bugs! o. and hepatitas!

  • @blkwulff NOT!!! pump parts will fail!!!

  • @Hutzjohn You are absoultely correct about fluoride. I have now had two of my medical doctors admit it is a dangrous poison that is too be avoided.

If you ask a good doctor in the correct manner, you will get the same answer...The tricky part is communicating that your eyes are open, but you dont wear a tin foil hat.

Most people will think your nuts the moment you bring up fluoride. I first learned it was poison over 10 years ago when reading an interview with the health minister of Japan.

  • Klean kanteens suck I dropped my 40oz from about 2 feet and it dented in 2 spots and on one spot it now leaks. Save your money go with nalgene I have had one for seven years and dropped it several times not one issue.

  • @MrFes888 Katadyne pocket the best

  • I'll stick with my katadyne pocket

  • try buying activated carbon, it will filter out the chemicals and funky taste.

  • Why not use city water?.

  • @supersnipah08 No you are WRONG it is the fluoride that poisons you and no I do not drink city water.

My sister was told NOT TO EAT or DRINK for 1 hour after she got a fluoride treatment at the dentist, then he told her to contact a poison control center if she forgot and did drink or eat by mistake. Fluoride is a very toxic substance to ingest. I hope you didn't pay a lot for that class because you was taken. Type it into Google and read all the negative said about it. It's all true.
