  • Do you seriously think that younger audiences are attracted by this? Well, I *am* the young audience- I'm 17- I don't know anyone who's roughly my age and prefers modern productions over classical ones.

And I don't think there is a single young person on this planet who would suddenly decide that he likes opera because the characters are wearing a purple shirt instead of a 18. Cnt. costume.

  • @dziady1 thank you! and just to close "the point"; a non Mozart tenor can not sing true to the character, in this case, Don Ottavio. It is that simple. However I can imagine Beczala singing Mozart as a good Pedrillo or Monostatos or the Erste Geharnischter.

I wish you lots of fun enjoying the music... bye!!!

  • @dziady1 Spoke with Beczala in a chat last Wednesday. The man's a great singer and genuinely humble.

  • Excellent! Very power voice. I really enjoyed Piotr's singing!!

  • esta puesta es basura!!!!!!!!!

aprendan de la versión de 1954, idiotas!!!!!!!

  • Everyone who believes they can judge a staging based on a clip or two are ignorants and idiots. Watch the whole thing, then judge, Otherwise be silent.

  • @David45NV1 David in desire to prove Beczala a" none Mozart" singer you contradict constantly not

only your sources but yourself and wiggle in every direction possible to prove your

infallibility as arbiter of what is a so called Mozart singer .The point was not if Beczala was a Mozart singer but if he sang true to the character. In your prejudicially uninformed musical opinion he did not .Good luck in your true Mozart tenor compilations .

The rest of us will enjoy the music .....bye !!!!!!

  • @dziady1 I don't speak for Mozart taste but I can read what he wrote (I mean not only his letters but also the scores). McCormack does not belong to those references in the German tradition where not only the tone production but also the dynamics play a major role. McCormack was not able to reproduce the dynamics indicated by Mozart. Mozart style is not a matter of arbitrary taste but a matter of accuracy. Sorry but all your arguments will not make Beczala a Mozart tenor.

  • @David45NV1 Am surprised you left out the supreme master of this manner of singing -

John McCormack - from whom Caruso wanted to learn his absolute breathe control .Others mentioned were all fine singers , no one can prove this is what Mozart would

have liked as a"Mozart Tenor" . It is all arbitrary taste how a Mozart tenor should

sound .based 1920s taste but this may not have be thought of much in 1787.You may not like Beczala for your taste , it is arrogant to speak for Mozarts' taste.

  • @dziady1 The German Mozart Tenor tradition goes back to end of the 1920s when Mozart Tenors started making use of Caruso’s technique to obtain a secure line of singing, perfect support of the sound and absolute breath control which allowed them to achieve the required dramatic expressiveness.

References start with: Marcel Wittrich in the 20s and continue with Joseph Schmidt, Peter Anders, Walter Ludwig, Anton Dermota, Fritz Wunderlich and end currently with Francisco Araiza.
