it used up way too many space...i see that when formatting it used up about 300G and now I only have about 130 or so gigs left to work with..what went wrong???

@larune same here, I'm using a 1tb western digital and after I converted it it turned into a hard disk with only 31.9gb, after formatting it twice my drive returned to original size however in the process nearly 850 gb's were consumed leaving me with only 120 to spare. I did this with the intention of using it with my xbox 360 and even after that the xbox tried to reformat it to a 16gb size instead of recognizing it as a external usb drive compatible with it.

thanks!!, i can finally watched movies using my usb on the xbox 360, i thought ntfs would be way better, but i guess not

@DelosTheRedShadow see comment below about downloading EASEUS Partition Master to do the job for you.
What if it's write protected?

@tehTravioli as long as you have admin privilages, you shopuld be able to right click on the drive and go in a modify the premissions on the drive.

@EPICadventures69 search youtube for How to Format / Convert an External Hard Drive from NTFS to FAT32 using EaseUS Partition Master Just select NTFS instead of FAT32 when formatting
