Cape Town Calypso by Dave Reynolds. "Calypso" is the native music of the island of Trinidad where the steelpan was created by people of mixed heritage, many of African descent. "Cape Town" is the Mother City of South Africa where people of mixed heritage have been playing music in the streets for hundreds of years surrounded by sea, mountains and all sorts of craziness mostly of a human kind. This tune, performed for the first time at the Pan Explosion Festival is an offering to the fathers of our global collective mess. Although we may struggle to forgive them, they threw us together and forced us into new ways of making music.

Dave Reynolds plays double seconds created by Steve Lawrie steve@stevelawrie.net and tuned by Dave Parkin paninc@live.co.za
