  • nice video thanks for posting it i really enjoyed it. just like my hunting in northern utah.

  • @trenthav Thanks for the kind words. Good luck this fall.

  • What unit was this? Did you see any elk as well?

  • I'm not even sure what the unit number is - it's the squaw butte area outside of Emmett, though. Still part of 32A, I think. Didn't see any elk on this trip - we were pretty low.

  • No one listens to hunters safety regardless of how good you are a hunter unless then you like to kiss ass. Anyway who's anyone to judge.

  • You would have been better off shooting a doe. Big bucks just don't appear out of nowhere, you have to let the little guys grow up. I went for or five years without killing a buck, so I could drop a 180 class with my bow this year. I'm not trying to be disrespectful just trying to inform people to make the quality of the hunting in the west better. Good camera work though.

  • terrible shot

  • emptying your gun , that close to a ridge where you just said there were lots of people......ummmm remember hunter safety classes?

  • I want to thanks you guys for actually hunting by foot. I see 9 out 10 hunters these days chasing the bucks down on motorcycles or atvs that it is sickening and not even real hunting. just high speed target practice.

  • @idahochas You are correct about this unit being one of the top trophy units in the state - more bucks in the book out of this unit than any other...but only 1 since 1982 (the year I was born)

As for how to manage it, I don't know. I don't profess to be a biologist - I like venison and I make no apologies so shooting a legal buck.

  • @jordanhaasmusic it depends on the existing genetics in that area. this unit has produced a lot of record bucks in the past and still has a lot of big bucks....they have become very crafty with all the hunting pressure. it boils down to genetics, age and nutrition. this area still has the genetics, but the deer do not have the "age" factor in their favor......that is why is needs to be a trophy, general season unit. i know this area and am confident in my statement as well!!

  • 6 or 7 shots! Good god! With the price of ammo these dats it would have been cheaper to buy a side of beef. Just kidding. Good job.
