I don't think Angelo is rushing, he always plays a little in front of the beat...

Django did that a bunch -- when he'd do the octave stuff he'd jump ahead of the beat. I think he was just adding emphasis. This ain't hairband music with a clicktrack. It's more akin to Baroque chamber music -- they payed ahead of the beat too, from what I've heard.
