Roger Miller reminds me a little (on this song), of Harry Nilsson. Who is a reknown songwriter but is also known for some silliness (Lime in the Coconut). I grew up in Elk City, OK about 35 mi. E. on I-40 from Erick, OK. Erick is 7 mi. E.of the Texas panhandle. It's a 1 square mile town that boast 2 main streets, Roger Miller Blvd & Sheb Wooley Ave.. Sheb was Western actor but also the writer of the tune Purple People Eater.

Woke up this morning with this song in my head. Memories!

This is the first and best lyrical interpretation of this song. As a genius songwriter, Roger Miller understood how to delivery a song. He didn't write this one, but he sure knew how to make it his own.

I remember singing this with the missus on the beach doing a little Moon-dancing.
