Steve Leonard is in the USA to see at first hand a wild wide awake hibernating black bear called BlackHeart. Does this awesome skill of hybernation, where no food or liquid has been consumed for six long months, qualify the black bear as an Extreme Animal? Cute baby cubs are found inside the warm cave.

  • why wont they give theme a snack ??

  • Intriguing idea on the recycle waste back into muscle and energy. Not as active and productive for half a year. The other half year eating off sets hibernating time. What can human adapt from this idea into our advantage through technology, artificial body parts? In case of human facing future ice age, long winter storm.

  • PETA wonders why people don't take them seriously?. Look at the comments below.

More people talking about what they don't know. Go out and live with bears around and you will have a different point of view. I deal with them on almost a daily basis.

  • @leesuperj

arent you glad to see this footage?

    IF so, then dont talk.

  • @frozenmouse76 that's not what happened here... but sure. humans are higher on the food, intelligence and social chain. when bears have chainsaws we're fucked.

  • Wish they would leave them be

  • SO COZY

  • I'm so sick of that fucking Yoplait black forest cake commercial. It's like nobody is fucking buying it anymore. We're sick of your Aspartame sugar filled lies and i'm not ever going to buy one so get the fuck over it and feed it to Obama.

  • @SaxoRocks Useless. Her digesting systems are shut down, like they said. She simply can`t stomach whatever you give to her. And if she does, that means leaving her hybernation - she`ll have to find more and more food, and that is problematic when ground is still covered in snow.

  • @utmobbad in Russia they call a woken-up hybernating bear a шатун (shatun), rogue bear. Those are known to be _extremely_ dangerous.
