Excavation of a soil pit to show three faces of a 'Pedon'. Site is in the Western Plains of Victoria, parent material is Neogene 'Hanson Plain Sand'. Soil profile shows typical subsoil variability for depth to clay and thickness of overlying albic or bleached A2 horizon. Photographic technique and extraction of intact cores for bulk density determination are demonstrated. All done with some humour. Music by Charles Mingus (jazz) and Craig Woodward & Warren Rough (oldtime).
