SIEGE - Warsaw 1939

Released in February 1940, the first non-Nazi produced footage covering the start of World War II, the film became for many viewers their first glimpses into Nazi tactics, the first visual proof of the horrors of modern warfare.

When Germany invaded Poland in September 1939, the only American, and in fact the only neutral filmmaker in the country, was Julien Bryan. He arrived in Warsaw in early September with a cache of roughly an hour's worth of 35mm motion-picture negative. Given open access to the city by the mayor, he filmed day and night for two weeks, documenting Warsaw's destruction and Germany's inexorable advance. Back in New York he assembled the footage into a ten-minute newsreel called Siege.

The fucking Germans knew the Poles were helpless but took great pleasure out of murdering them nonetheless. That was GERMAN MANTALITY. Kill just for the hell of it. I noticed how the narrator discusses Nazi INCENDIARY bombings. This validates my profile page which discusses the rightful Allied firebombings of Dresden and Hamburg. Nazi Germany. ALL OF IT deserved retribution and death. I equate this video with the brave Israelis under siege by similar lowlife bastards. Kill or be killed, I say.

@39rc6cf - when Bryan speaks about incendiary bombs, the pictures shows a Jewish district, deliberatelly bomber on the Jewish new year, about 23/24 september.

Israelis under siege? Don`t use this video or anything related to WWII for excusing the present politics of Israel...

Czy ktoś zna adres, pod którym jeszcze dostępny jest ten dokument w dobrej jakości (nieskompresowany)? Przeszukałem już chyba całe Rapid i Hotfile i nic. A zależy mi - chciałbym to paru osobom pokazać; takie fakty należy zobaczyć na własne oczy.

... nieskompresowany jest na pewno na taśmach 35mm w archiwum Stevena Spielberga. W formacie WMV dostępny na stronie archiwum, w niewiele lepszej (jeśli w ogóle) jakości niż ten MP4.

Bryan mówi zdaje się, że jego zdjęcia to jedyne powstałe podczas oblężenia. Nie jest to do końca prawda - opuścił  Warszawę 7.IX. - tymczasem większość z nas zna ujęcia płonącego Zamku Królewskiego, zbombardowanego 17 b.m.

Owszem, była grupa filmowa zorganizowana przez Prezydenta Starzyńskiego. Filmy, które przetrwały, zostały przemycone do Brytanii chyba w 1943, wyemitowane przez główne agencje "informacyjne" i zmontowane przez Cękalskiego w formie kilku krótkometrażowych dokumentów.

If USA,England and France would do what they suppose to do at that time - the casualties in WWII would be much smaller.They were obide by international treaties but they just ignore it!That's the truth.Later Polish soldiers were helping in many armies around Europe.I think USA, Britian and France should be named and shamed for that!Pure disgrace!USA,England&France only cared then and care now about their own bussiness.I only hope it would never repeat in future.

The girl at minute 9:40 she really broke my hearth wen a saw her on another film which extended the misery of war,her descomposure was beyond her comprehesion of the event that took the life of someone that was very cherished to her,my parents were also victims of this war and it may be the reason that I felt her pain.

My Grandfather fought in the September Campaign, he was in the 2PSP out of Sanok. One of the Mountain Brigades commanded only by the Commander in Chief. He was captured by the Germans near Lwow. He was held in 4 camps including the deadly Labour Camp, Oberlangen.

Thank you for posting this, we CANNOT forget what was done. On my user page I have a link to his Memorial page on Facebook. All of his war documents are being posted there. People who do these things never change, GOD BLESS POLAND!
