As an independent band, we hustle to get money however we can. One of our favorite ways of doing this is by playing in the streets using our "Alma Core" instruments (cajon, two acoustics, bass). Here we are busking on the streets of New Orleans in June 2011. Pablo Cinco, our long-time friend and new social media dude, filmed and edited this video to the song Grandma's Day off of our upcoming Riders album so you could get a sneak peek of what's to come!

Video by Paul Devoto (Pablo Cinco)

Lyrics:

I can make my grandma's day
just by picking up the phone and calling to her
though my grandpa's passed away
i still feel his love echo in my veins

oh my words they are like vessels sailing meaning to your ears
once they dock inside your mind the effect remains unclear
hearing this may conjure images or magic fantasies
but my intention is to bring you closer right here next to me

stay with me
there are so many things i'd like to share with you
stay with me
we can travel through the world, sail the seven seas

silence lives behind these words
but the voices in our head won't leave us alone
and when i listen i am heard
the voices of our ancestors are saying "please slow down"

in the future we think we will know it all and understand
so we push the present to the past as quickly as we can
hearing this may conjure images or magic fantasies
but my intention is to bring you closer right here next to me

stay with me
there are so many things i'd like to share with you
stay with me
we can travel through the world, sail the seven seas.

  • such a beautiful song and an uplifting melody thanks for this!

  • @ItsaStringThing Thanks StringThing, it makes us feel nice too:)

  • @spiderrmann1995 Thanks for your support Spiderrmann! As for the Spanish name, Chris Joe and Paul met studying abroad in Spain during their college years. During this time they started a street publication with other 'naked souls' called Alma Desnuda. Years later they met back up in SF and started playing music and picked back up the Alma Desnuda name, invited Joe's brother Tony to the mix and the rest is what you see! Now Alma Desnuda is more than just a band name, it's a way of life.

  • so nice...
