I bought a new pair and my toes are touching the end of the shoe, should I go a size larger?

Hi John, It really depends on how it feels. Ideally your toes should just barely touch the end of the shoe. It is a very fine line between touching and cramped so be careful.

Are the concepts the same for touring?

Generally the concepts are the same for touring. If you are using a semi walkable touring shoe you will want a little extra space for your foot to move when you walk. The support and stiffness concepts are the same. Although the stiffer the shoe the less walkable. Hope this helps... Victor

Alex using a trainer to get the movement can help. I do have a method for teaching this but will have to make a video in the future. You could listen to this podcast for some great tips Search for cycling 360 media and then look for the show on clipless pedals. That should help a little

Yes it does... And thank you for such a quick response. I'm planning a Seattle to Key West trip this summer. It looks like I have the right shoe then. Maybe a little tight, no insert, so I might up the size just a bit.

I used to ride around in a parking lot for awhile clicking in and out a million times to get used to the feeling of being 'locked' in. Was really strange to me at first but now, 20 years later its just like walking. You'll get it.
