On Friday January 27th, people from the poorest communities in Cape Town, South Africa left their homes to take part in a summit involving more than twenty community organizations to reflect on the dire state of affairs of South AFrica, This was planned to be done in the green open spaces in an area of the city called Rondebosch Commons.

Unfortunately, before many of those participating in this event could even make to the Commons, they were arrested.

A call went out to all those who could make their voices heard, to put pressure on the police and city to release these people.

The following is Freedom Central's attempts to put pressure on from the international Alternative Media.

To My Country, I have not forgotten or forsaken you. I love you South Africa. We will free you from the Dark Empire.

To those in South Africa who are continuing in this struggle, please don't give up. There are people all over the world watching you. South Africa is very important in the bigger picture, which is why there are very organised attempts to squash any uncontrolled uprising or protest.

PEACE LOVE UNITY RESPECT

  • People work hard for their money. The middle-class work 5-6 days per week and also long hours. Most are paying bonds or renting. The unemployed are too busy taking drugs and burning down schools to get an education. They then come into areas of the middle-class and demand land. There is plenty of land in their own areas. They just want to be in middle-class areas so they can go shopping in the nearby houses at night for TV's, cars and other goods.

  • This is simply a Land-Invasion like in Zimbabwe. They want to invade every open field in all middle/upper class areas and build squatter camps or cheap high-density walkups. There are thousands of gangsters and drug dealers on the Cape Flats. The crime there is saturated and the people are giving birth to 7 children per family. They want to now take the land owned by the whites and steal and plunder in wealthier areas. The police must lock these terrorists up.

  • Cape Town has had this problem of land shortage forever. most people who claim there is enough land in the informal settlements have never been there. merely arresting these people shoves the problem under the carpet. the mayor should have diverted this march to a neural location and addressed these people. she's now given them power and support.

  • In a monetary system, democracy is an illusion perpetuated to give the populace a feeling of participation in a so-called democratic process./watch?v=4Z9WVZddH9w

  • @novocainerr Why are you talking to yourself? :P

  • @novocainerr Yes, it still exists in the form of this protest. Do you even know anything about this protest? Where are you from and what is your citation? Yes, SA is screwed up, but not because of 'white elitists'. It is screwed up because of laziness, laziness and corruption. This protest wants to compound that.

  • @novocainerr If I steal your resources, you go to the police and get it back, i go to prison. What happened in South Africa is, you stole my resources, I went to the police, but in order not to piss you off, you get to call the resources your property and there is nothing i can do about it. What we are now trying to do is start a dialogue that will end in all of us having access to the resources through cooperation and working together. How can you be against that?

  • @Souran3 Staw man burns... There is a difference between descending into a system of land grabs and acknowledging that the South African system has not been able to address the problems that Apardheid left us with. Far from going back to that system, that system still exists.

  • @novocainerr No, he isn't a racist. He is an informed realist. Not once did he mention race. Pulling the racist card is one of those low blows which people are sick of giving any credence any more.

  • @novocainerr Exactly, do you really want us to go back to that system? Evil actions are always evil, not matter who perpetrates them.

  • @Souran3 during apardheid many people received without working, If you remember there were land grabs, forced removals etc.

  • @Morne39 You sound scared... nothing but a scared racist.
