  • think your title needs to be switched around trees do not spark

  • Dude if they dont get that tree finished and a ice storm hits the line is going to not just release tiny sparks but eventually those tiny sparks will turn into MASSIVE high voltage arcs that will destroy the entire powerline and can damage entire grids if it arcs long enough.

  • @SmashCOBamberg It's both. The electricity comes out of the tree to the power line, then back. But I see your point :(

    it should be titled differently.

  • That's a problem waiting to happen. I hope someone trims that tree soon.

  • @figget44 yes. high voltage.

  • how is it conducting? too much power in the lines?

  • I former neighbor of mine lost his job as a trimmer when he cut down a tree below a 110kV line which shouldn't had been there in the first place. Turned out the tree was about 400 years old and strictly protected but nobody knew it or at least told him before (there was no protection sign on it). Ironically, some months later a nearby tree of similar age under the same line caught fire an burnt down a house. This time a coworker of him who refused to trim this tree got sacked. Stupid lawyers.

  • I'm a line clearence tree trimmer. You would'nt believe how many people go to a nursery, get a tree whrn its little & cute in a 5 gallon bucket. They take it home & plant it right under the lines, then think I'm the bad guy 15 years later, when I have to ruin their tree, to get proper clearence So damned tired of this conversation with people who just can't grasp the notion that you can't have trees in or on the lines. Anyone who thinks electricity isn't important- go tent camping!

  • actually it's a power line sparking against a tree xD

  • havent seen that yet, but i work for a company that trim trees for the power company
