According to the HITECH ACT, which stands for Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act of 2009, all health care providers who accept Medicare or Medicaid must transition to electronic health records by 2014.

Primary care physicians can get help from FREE help from regional extension centers. Primary care physicians include:geriatrics, ob/gyn, pediatricians, internal medicine, adolescent medicine, and of course, general and family practice physicians.

GA-HITREC is the Georgia regional extension center.
