Once again Save Our State members and guests protested the American Apparel retail store in Hollywood, CA to bring attention to their un-American hiring practices. A small, but strong group joined together to speak as one voice for the American worker. Twice before we have brought attention to this business and its illegal hiring practices. As expected, our presense brought out counterprotesters in the form of approximately 35 members of the Brown Beret gang members.

Towards the end of the rally, one of our participants called the Hollywood police to complain of the constant harassment by the BB's. However, once they arrived, it appears the BB's and their supporters, got to the officers first as the police approached US regarding harassing the BB's and attempted to demand that we leave. One particular officer (the screamer) tried to convince us that we had to have a permit to be on the sidewalk. I call her the screamer because she began yelling so loud at one of our ralliers that the rallier told Officer Rosenkild that she was not deaf. We reminded the officers of our first amendment rights to peaceful assembly. This officer Rosenkild was not budging and it appeared that we were going to have to either leave or face whatever action the police decided to take against us. UNTIL- we called in our attorney to diffused the situation. Once these officers were aware of our legal representation and the fact that we were schooled in our constitutional rights, they chilled out and became more cooperative towards at least hearing our side of the story.

  • To diffuse this situation, can't they just call the parole officer or case worker for the guy in the beret who can be seen at 2:10 of the video?

  • I just interviewed at this retail store without success... and I think it's because I wasn't skinny enough. How rude!
