http://www.fuzzyfoliage.com Want an easy way to keep your African violets watered? Try wick watering! The wick (string) sucks up the water from a reservoir, meaning you don't need to water as often.

Things you'll need:

- An African violet
- A pot
- Synthetic string (mason line, kite string, yarn, etc.) No cotton or silk!
- A reservoir (deli container, baby food jar, margarine tub) with holes cut in the lid
- Light potting mix (1/2 peat or "African violet mix" and 1/2 perlite)
- Water

  • really awesome video... tnx very much for sharing. Btw, your reservoir should be jet black if possible, reason being no light should ever get to the water otherwise algae is certain to appear.

  • @falinx101 I just use Physan 20 in my water and don't get algae in the first place.

  • @falinx101 PS: Algae is ugly, but won't hurt the plant.

  • was size av is that? how long can it live in that pot too? thanks

  • @kidneys3 --It's a miniature, it will always be in that size pot.

  • Can you use anything else besides mason line and acrylic yarn?

  • @Incredibleisaac2 Anything synthetic. Anything like cotton or silk will rot.
