I am from the UK - and went to Oz backpacking in 2005 - I also went to Oz 2 years before that with my parents. My first time in oz we went in a 600 horsepower motor boat (1200 horsepower in total) was 3 engine outboards. The captain - a young guy was awesome getting out from Noosa to Whitsunday Island! Once out past the reef the waves were ferocious. Beautiful day when we left but once we were on the island it began to rain! But snorkelling was fantastic especially the huge flat fish!
