The last in my current series on the Minor Pentatonic Scale. This one is on "Sequences", or patterns that repeat throughout the scale. I ran out of time, and recorded this on Saturday morning at 6:30am, so please forgive me if I am a little groggy!

  • I know I am asking you to essentially compose a whole song ... but that is not what I am really asking for. I am really asking for an "explanation" of ideas and a few typical styles ...

This is really a sincere request ... in any case, please keep up the great work! Any instructor would charged hundreds of dollars for what you are teaching here ... :)

  • No problem....I usually do things like this for my private students...its just an exercise....we can work out song structure and some writing devices that I think are useful...

  • I have a sincere request ... could you construct a basic lesson to songwriting ... I mean, the whole thing - taking an idea, writing a simple chord structure on it, then playing rhythm and scales together and moving with the chord changes ... adding some chord embellishments (such as 7th chords) - kind of like Jimi Hendrix style.

  • That is something I can do, although before I do that I am going to try and lay the groundwork with some theory so that we have some common vocabulary...in the next month or so I am going to do a couple of lessons on triads and harmonizing the major scale...after that I can definitely do a few songwriting lessons...look for them after the first of the new year...

Thanks for the feedback...I really appreciate it!

  • you helped me a lot, you are good in what you're doing :) great Suhr too!

  • Thanks! I'm glad you're liking the lessons... If you have any requests for future lessons please let me know and I'll see if I can do one for you!

  • and if you need any help, please be sure to ask ... I would love to help out on this initiative in any possible way :)

maybe, I could post a video response to each of your lessons to show every subscriber of your series what I really learned from a particular lesson ...(kind of like a teacher student thing :D)

I am just a beginner and I think it will help others like me ... anyway, as of now, I am completely enjoying your lessons ... :)
