Originally seen as a sequel to CastleVania on the N64, and then as a "director's cut" type game, Legacy Darkness settled on being both, containing a new quest with a character called Cornell, but offering slightly different and updated versions of Reinhart and Carrie's quests as well, and a 4th playable character. Many people were angered that the game, which is seen as what the first should have been, came out only a few months later, which led to some backlash, particularly of it's predecessor.

  • This game is totally inferior to the N64 title Castlevania (the first N64 Castlevania).

  • No way. This game pretty much contains the entire first game as well as a lot of added stuff.

  • i wish Nintendo released both N64 Castlevania games on the Virtual Console,i've never played them, the closest i got to play as Cornel was in Castlevania Judgement(Wii) and he didn't look like this version :(

  • @NecroVMX

I realize that it's supposed to be a "director's cut" and that it has upgraded graphics. But anyone who has played both will know that it's not the same game. The levels flow totally differently and Legacy of Darkness just does not "feel" very scary or have much pathos. The best example I can give is the early Villa level. It feels completely different in both games, it's scary and has flavor in C64 but in this "director's cut" it is just so... butchered. Whole game is that way.

  • @defeata so even though it includes the original castlevania 64 with upgraded textures and new areas it's inferior? you need your head checked because I think something's missing.

  • which one's better?

  • not cornell reinhart or carrie the other dude

  • micheal jackson any1

  • His main attack is a Sonic Slash, his up close attack is a basic Claw Slash. In my opinion, he was a little tricky to use due to the way he attacks.

  • does anybody know how to pick up items and swap weapons in this game cause im stuck lol

  • This guy who's talkin is funny...

  • No.

The level designs and flow are totally different and inferior. Some areas are wholly off limits.

Go back and play through the "villa" level in both versions to get a CLEAR picture of what I mean.
