The cooking show genre will officially go "wild" with In the Jungle Kitchen,
featuring: charismatic organic cooking guru Stephen Brooks.
While most chefs were training at culinary institutes, Stephen Brooks went off the grid in
Costa Rica, started an organic farm, and invented his own supermarket-free recipes using only natural foods from the jungles and coastlines. Stephen has since traveled the
world to become an expert on exotic fruits, vegetables, and organic cooking -- and he
shares his knowledge with an energy and sense of humor that's absolutely contagious.
Just like a standard cooking show, Stephen will prepare one full meal for the viewer in
each episode. But Nature's Kitchen will add two great twists:
• FORAGING: Before we see Stephen cook the meal, we'll first see him forage,
find, or fish for the ingredients -- from herbs to oils to vegetables to seafood -- in
the surrounding jungles, gardens and shoreline waters of Costa Rica.
• COOKING OUTDOORS: Stephen will then prepare the meals literally outdoors,
in his beautiful hand-crafted open-air kitchen -- a thatched open-air nirvana for
fruit and vegetable lovers. This "set" will provide a great visual contrast to the
standard cooking shows.
Stephen's Costa Rican kitchen is literally interwoven with adjacent groves of fruit trees,
vegetable gardens, and natural jungle growth that provide a bounty of delicious foods.
The nearby shoreline offers an array of shellfish, seaweeds, and many types of fish.
So when Stephen needs an herb, he doesn't open the kitchen cabinet -- he runs out to
the jungle and forages for tasty leaves. When Stephen needs some milk, he doesn't
open the refrigerator -- he climbs up the nearest palm tree and grabs a coconut.
This is food preparation like we've never seen on TV!
