2009 Amgen Tour of California - Stage 1 Calistoga - Francisco Mancebo leading

The Amgen Tour of California sped through the Napa Valley and Calistoga on the way to Santa Rosa on Sunday, February 15, 2009. Since we were hot tubbing and wine tasting in Calistoga that weekend, we were fortunate to have a front row seat (so to speak).

Even with my wool coat and gloves it was amazingly cold and I couldn't imagine riding for three hours from Davis to Calistoga in the rain and cold! And they still had to navigate the windy Mark West road to Santa Rosa after whizzing past us!!

It was exciting to see the riders, including Lance Armstrong, racing by - there was a big build-up (they were about 45 min later than expected), and suddenly they were gone!
