It is the Shambhala view that every human being has a fundamental nature of goodness, warmth and intelligence. This nature can be cultivated through meditation, following ancient principles, and it can be further developed in daily life, so that it radiates out to family, friends, community and society.
In this Family Weekend, together with children and adults, we practiced meditation and meditative arts such as calligraphy. The highlight was a contemplation exercise in which we thought about what we wish for other beings in the world and then wrote down a wish on our favorite calligraphy which we then tied to balloons and flew over the rooftops of Prague for some lucky people to find. The many wishes included 'may you be happy and kind to yourself and others', 'may you have many toys', 'may you have a warm bed and enough food to eat', 'may you have peace', and many more.
The weekend program was both a fun and enriching experience.
