This video includes a selection of excerpts from a whole class maths lesson, filmed just before the end of the Autumn term in Year 2. Teacher Amy Skedd scaffolds children through the process revising recognising halves and quarters in 2D objects. Learning becomes increasingly more complex, as children are asked to identify halves and quarters and demonstrate to the rest of the class. Outside of filming shown here children had opportunities to practically make halves and quarters from real objects during the consolidation part of the lesson. Notice the high involvement in oracy and how children are encouraged to demonstrate and model learning concepts to others.
