This is the most knowledgeable video that I had seen regarding horse racing. You made very valid statements, and also, PETA never campaigns for horse abuse or horse slaughter or even claimers that get hurt. I noticed that they don't care about the low-ranking claimers who breakdown. It's when a horse gets hurt in a stakes race that they go around parading. I agree with Larry Jones entirely. Thank you for this video. It's not biased in anyway, and simply gives facts.

If you could do anything, what specific things would you do to make horse racing safer? Should they breed thoroughbreds for durability? Should they wait to break them when their 3? I'm just saying that there probably isn't enough monetary incentive to make those kinds of changes.

I work for TB breakers and one of their racehorses has just bowed BOTH of his front tendons, this horse was probably not as fit as he should have been and he has been put in his yard. If some of these trainers bothered to get their horses properly FIT, they wouldn't pull/strain tendons as much as they do!! Also, tell me, what horse likes being locked in a 4X4 stable fo 23 hours a day?

Many racehorse owners may love their horses, but that still doesn't hide the fact that there are so many race related deaths. Australia in particular seems to be pretty bad with racing injuries. My mum had a half share in a horse, he was too slow and we recently got him back to re-train. He's been off the track for a few weeks and he's not as fit as i thought he'd be, they just did a bodge job on him and called him 'race ready..'

@Barbaro2012 you are so right! the horses that don't want to race end up in off track auctons while the ones who love to run, run! I think the job description is bred into them. Remeber, PETA, they don't have to sign it. And if they do, they'd die to run!

Football players break limbs and can never walk again, surfers go under and never surface, pedestrians get hit and die. How is horse racing any different? It is just as dangerous as any other sport!!! Why can't peta and the humane society freak ou about something else... something like the abused nd nglected animals in people's backyards. You don't even have to go to kentucky for that!

Great video CiscoGirl. I wanted to ask tho, whats the piece of piano music called at the end? The music after Rascal Flatts. Sounded almost like the opening to Finding Nemo but I couldn't place it for sure. Let me know if you can. Thanks!
