I first met the Florida Boys in person in 1962 when the company I was working for sent me to a grand opening of a hardware store in Bay Minette, Alabama where they were performing. That group consisted of Les Beasley, lead; Glen Alred, baritone,; Coy cook, tenor; Billy Todd, bass and Derrell Stewart, piano. The last account I had of Coy he was driving the bus for Wayland Jennings and singing backup for him. He and Billy have since passed away and Les and Glen are retired in Florida.
@addington86 It's Jerry Trammel, Mark's brother. You're thinking of Roy Tremble of Cathedral fame. I really believe Roy Tremble is one of the finest (if not the finest) tenor singers I've ever known. And what a range. Cathedrals hired him for the baritone part then later on when they were needing a tenor singer discovered just how great Roy was at tenor. He could fill every part but bass.
This group consisted of Jerry Trammel, tenor; Les Beasley, lead; Glen Allred, baritone; Buddy Lyles, bass and of course Derrell Stewart on the piano. He was with them from day one until retirement last year.
