It is unfortunate that people have chosen to build non quake proof houses in earthquake zones but then that is where the fertile land was. We make assessments of the likelihood of each idea. I agree with Hitchens that hell is wildly improbable. There is a fleeting hope that there is a loving God who takes us all to heaven. Hitchens & I will see you there if there is one.

Talkorigins is a hunk baloney as found about by some un-liberal scientists. G-d may not only control the weather at times, he controls everything. Without Him, nothing would hold together. Hitchens was asked whether he feared death, he said ‘No. Im not afraid of being dead, thats to say. Theres nothing to be afraid of; I wont know I’m dead." The tragedy, of course, is that he couldn’t be more wrong.

& there's no POSSIBLE way someone could "make up" the biblical accounts.

It shows peoples attempts to interpret the things that happened to them. If the wind blows the roof off my house is that God punishing me or does it show I didn't build it to high enough spec. ? Who thinks weather is controlled by God or Satan ? I don't. There is no supernatural realm. No evidence of a global noah flood or exodus.see C. Hitchens

@Eye2EyeIIIV There were law codes in Egypt and Sumeria long before the Bible codes. See 1760BCE Hammurabi code. or 2000BCE Ur Nammu code. The U.K 2011 law is world class and pupils should study it, talk it over and be helped to see the value of living within it so as to have a pleasant society. It is also worth comparing U.K law with O.T. law ( of 600BCE) and showing the reasons why U.K law is better. People need a stake in society, employment, as incentive to live by its rules.

well im not buying into it. It's stupid. CE & BCE are nothing more than liberal biases to drive G-d out of the schools. No wonder school shootings & school massacres occur. You drive Him out, & then you blame Him for not stopping bad things. Evolutionism doesn't exist except in the textbooks. @Eye2EyeIIIV Before Common Era questions the existence of Christ. I think it is interesting to listen to the likes of Robert M. Price about the whole picture of how the Bible stories came to be. I think culture evolves. "An eye for an eye " could be good if read metaphorically as reacting with a sense of proportion. So why are there disproportionate ideas in O.T. law like stoning for adultery ? Was it only meant as a maximum penalty threat, not to be inflicted in reality?
