Mazzy Star - Common Burn, new song Oct. 2011 + lyrics

A-Side of new Mazzy single released Oct. 2011. B-side, "Lay Myself Down", I uploaded to You Tube earlier, as it was findable online earlier. (I see some sites now refer to the single as having double-A sides, & no B-side). I now have two different YT uploads of Lay Myself Down available. The first one's here:

It was recorded from the streamed audio at a lower volume level than I'd have liked (my error). Depending on listeners' audio set-ups, this could pose a listening problem, or be an annoyance (or not), so I've uploaded a 2nd recording of Lay Myself Down here:

with volume pre-cranked, i.e. it's recorded at a louder volume level. Two to choose from!

The two new songs, on Mazzy Star's own new Indie label, Rhymes of an Hour Records, are officially available to purchase online as of Oct. 31, 2011.

There's also a very nice 7" 33rpm transparent blue vinyl record of the two new songs available. It was supposed to be released Oct. 2011 like the digital versions, but was delayed till 2012. Retailers are selling it now. I received one in the mail last week.
Shop around & you can avoid ebay gougers, & retailers who charge inflated shipping charges. Mazzy's an Indie band now. Support & encourage them by buying their music!

This recording comes from a free stream found at this site: fuckyeahmazzystar.tumblr.com. Many other sites are now streaming both new songs.
Several sites now report a full Mazzy album & tour are to follow in 2012. It's not official news just yet, as Hope's official site, hopesandoval.com has so far announced just the single. However, her site's webmaster, Colin, left a post at another fan site, mazzystar.nu, promising more news is coming. I wonder, what news might that likely be? An album announcement, followed by news of a major tour, perhaps? Or so we hope - but odds could be good on both counts... Summer may be over (here in the Northern Hemisphere, at least), but hey, a new Mazzy Star season's just starting - surely good enough news to help alleviate winter blahs for Mazzy/Hope fans north of the Equator, & enhance summer enjoyment for those south of!

It's crazy how people just steal music these days. It used to be that if you wanted to hear music, you had to pay money to buy it. Hope, Dave, and Co. spent the time to write and record this nice song and they don't get a dime for their troubles from a lot of people who listen to it.

@mikeusat I 1/2 agree.In the video description I note Mazzy Star's now an Indie band with their own label,&urge fans to support&encourage them by buying their music.But it's apparent the band itself likely provided the 2 songs to sites like Pitchfork to stream for free.They could easily shut down YT uploads by lodging copyright infringement claims,but haven't.Fans should help reward them for their open&tolerant approach(none of my many Mazzy/Hope uploads have been spiked) by buying their music!

@mikeusat If it wasn't for this song being posted up on you tube, I would never have known that Mazzy star was active again. This upload should be viewed as free advertising for the group. Thanks to this I will now be heading over to itunes to download the single and will be looking out for the forthcoming album. I wouldn't have know anything about either had I not stumbled across this while searching for portishead videos!!
